what is purpose of bag under Federal work tables
« on: May 06, 2007, 08:00:16 AM »
I have never understood the original purpose of the (most often silk) bags that hang below the Seymour style federal work tables.

Just curious.

Thanks.

The bag under a Ladies work table is to put the "work" in. These tables were used  for sewing and needle point, things that well trained ladies were adept at. The bag is mounted to a slide and pulls out so the fabric can be placed in there.
