Bee Propolis in Wood Finishing
« on: September 16, 2016, 06:22:34 PM »
Hello all.

I was recently watching a video on the FWW site regarding the Chicago School of Violin Making.  For the finish it was mentioned that a traditional finish for violins (in some cases) started with a coat of a propolis based sealer coat.  This coat added a nice patina to the final finish.  As a beekeeper and woodworker this peaked my interest.  Has anyone had any experience of knowledge of using bee propolis in wood finishing?  I would love to learn more about it.  I have been doing some searches on the web but was hoping to hear from some of the members on this forum.
