Hello all,

I didn't know if anyone had any HSS router bits or 3 wing shaper cutters for sale (ie. delta shaper cutters, stanley hss router bits, craftsmen hss router bits).  If so please email me at periodcraftsmen@gmail.com.

Thanks

Hi Freddy, long time no see! It's not that hard to find old cutters and bits, but I'm not sure exactly why you want them? The old delta cutters were middle of the road quality at best. HSS router bits are still out there, check out Onsrud cutter, Forest City(not Forrest sawblades, different company), Anthe cutter works. The only reason I still use hss router bits is for some operations I need such a ridiculously sharp edge to avoid tearout I have to stop and hand hone them often! Most of Whiteside's router bits are so good that's not much of an issue anymore. Did you pick up a shaper recently?  If so get a corrugated back head from a place like CGG Schmidt. The industry standard is 60 degree corrugations so avoid cheapos like Grizzly sells which are 90 degree then you can get custom profiles ground. It's almost impossible to tell the difference by eye but if you put the wrong knives in there you're taking a chance of them flying out and they WILL GO RIGHT THROUGH YOU!!!! Most of the places that grind knives can make router bits too with blanks from Forest City who also happens to make the world's best brad point drill bits along with Morris Wood Tool.

When I had a shop I used to grind custom profiles into steel router (straight) bits.  I got sick of doing this and ordered some custom bits made.  I don't recall who made them, but there are several outfits that will do it.  Ten years ago they cost me about $75 on average, and were worth every penny.
