SAPFM How do you connect the drawer rails case sides?
HEADLEY The rails are half dovetailed into the sides (figs. 8,9). I do this by first cutting the notch the same size as the smallest part of the dovetail. Then I go to my table saw and set the angle for my dovetail on the rail. Next I raise the blade up and cut a piece about a 1 ¾” to 2” thick. After cutting the angle on the block, I clamp the block on the edge of the notch on the case side. Using the block as a guide to cut the dovetail angle with my wide chisel. I make sure to make small cuts so as not to disturb the clamped block. After cutting the angle I check to make sure that it is the correct angle. While the saw is still set, I cut the angle on the ends of the rails.
