The Chamfered Corners

Fig.24 The chamfered corners are marked out and then roughed out with a drawknife.

SAPFM how do make and apply the chamfered corner to the front of the chests?
HEADLEY The rails on the chest are cut to receive the pieces that run vertically in the chest corners (figs. 10,11). Similar to the way you would put quarter columns on a Chippendale chest. This piece is glued to the front edge of the rails and then glue blocked to the chest inside side. This secures it rather well. The next day I draw a line on the face 1” from the rail all the way down. I also draw a line do the side slightly wider on the side to give the appearance of reaching out a little more (fig. 22). About 2” from the top and bottom rail I draw an arch back out to the edge on both sides, top and bottom. This gives me a line to work to. After drawing the lines I get a drawknife and spoke shave and work down the corner to slightly above the line. A little scrapeing down to the pencil line and the corner is now ready for fine lines.
