SAPFM As you were cleaning up the sides, did you do it by eye or did you run a template along it checking for high and low spots?
DAVIS The dado blade left a reference line across the grain which was helpful to scrub plane the sides without excessive removal. Once that was gone, I used a straight edge across the grain to ensure it was flat.

SAPFM Did you need to compare the two sides to each other as you went along?
DAVIS Not really.
