SAPFM: What type of tool(s) are you using? Make/Model?
DAVIS: I roughed the outer profile with a bandsaw, spokeshaved it clean, then set in some curved rabbets with a rabbet blade in the Stanley 66 Beader. These defined the reference faces for carving the molding profile. The bronze beader on the left is made by Lie-Nielsen.
SAPFM: What is the size of the stock for the base molding?
DAVIS: About 2 5/8 deep x 1 9/16 thick.
SAPFM: What is the profile being applied? It appears as though the beader is creating a three-stepped molding.
DAVIS: Exactly. Yes the molding is stepped and then carved to shape.
